Be the church.

Why Symbazo

Churches can be full of people who would help, if they knew where help was needed

Pastors, staff, and small-group leaders cannot continuously know every burden, skill, relationship, and available set of hands across a congregation. Symbazo is intended to reduce that information gap without turning care into a marketplace or another program staff have to carry.

Symbazo is built for local churches to connect people who need help with people who may be able to offer it.

Equipping the local church to know, serve, and care for one another.

Symbazo is built to help ordinary people in local churches know where they can care for one another, by helping one another, praying for one another, and serving their church.

Know Your Neighbor

Get to know your church family through shared interests.

  1. Choose your interests.

Choose what you enjoy and opt in to invitations.

  2. Find a gathering.

When enough people share that interest, Symbazo proposes a group gathering.

  3. Take part.

You can volunteer to organize or respond to an invitation once the gathering is planned.

Help Your Church and Community

Help your church

  1. See where help is needed.

Church leaders publish church-wide service opportunities so people can step in when they are able.

  2. Receive a private invitation.

People who have offered to help their church can receive a private invitation.

  3. Respond when you are able.

Accept an invitation if you can help.

Care for One Another

Ask for help

Share an ordinary need such as a meal, transportation, moving help, yard work, or technology help.

Ask for prayer

Let your church family know how they can be praying for you.

When you ask for help

  1. Share a need.

    Request help with anything.

  2. Symbazo invites someone who may be able to help.

Someone who is available to help will get notified.

  3. Make a plan together.

If they can help, you arrange the details together.

Technology should make relationships easier, not replace them.

Success happens offline.

The goal is not more screen time. The goal is meals delivered, rides given, burdens carried, prayer offered, and relationships formed.

Get to know one another.

Helping with a need can be the start of a friendship.

Church-guided, not staff-heavy.

The design aims to give church leaders appropriate oversight of requests without making ordinary member-to-member care another staff queue.

Built to support the ministry your church is already doing.

Symbazo is not intended to replace pastors, small groups, church care, financial assistance processes, or existing church systems. It also does not replace pastoral judgment, safeguarding procedures, or established ways of handling urgent needs.

The design calls for:

  • Participation within the population authorized by each church.
  • Member-controlled willingness and current availability.
  • Private, voluntary invitations to help; an invitation does not create an obligation.
  • Church leaders can review requests, but private replies and conversations aren’t routinely visible to them. Reported messages can be reviewed for safety.

Prototype evaluation

The prototype is being evaluated with fictional examples. Its safeguards need testing and review before use with real church information.

A name inspired by being joined together.

Symbazo is a coined name inspired by the Greek συμβιβάζω (symbibazō), used in Ephesians 4:16 as Paul describes the body being joined and held together.

That is the idea behind the project: help ordinary believers know, serve, support, and build up one another as each part does its work.
